Intel Motherboard, Early chipset, Pentium & Core chipset
Intel is an American multinational corporation building and manufacturing actively computer and desktop processor and motherboard , company has headquarters in Santa Clara , California . Intel is consider one of the largest and highest valued computer chip maker, also they are the inventor of X86 series of microprocessor. Intel combines advanced chip design capability with a leading-edge manufacturing capability. Intel Corporation has history since the foundation 1968 as integrated electronics; they are makers of mother board, chipsets, network interface controller and integrated circuit flash memory, graphic chips and embed processors.
Intel foundation:
Intel was originally founded in Mountain View, California in 1968 by Gordon E. Moore who was famous chemist and scientist of Moore law , second person was Robert Noyce who was a physicist and co-inventor of the integrated circuit, while third person was Arthur Rock who was the investor and venture capitalist. Gordon E. Moore and Noyce came from Fairchild Semiconductor and were Intel’s first two employees. They were the pioneers of Intel whil Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore were remained widely associated with the executive leadership and vision of Andrew Grove. Though Intel was originally known primarily to engineers and technologists, but their marketing and advertising campaign of “Intel Inside” about in 1990s provide them a household name, along with its Pentium processors
Intel series:
Intel motherboard chipsets have a wide range but are divided into three main categories, first one those which use the PCI bus for interconnection and second one those that connect using specialized Hub Links while third are connect using PCI Express. They are listed in chronological order also these categories defined their version properties along with their generation. First PCI interconnection series called as or the 4xx series, second one the 8xx series, and third are called the 9xx series consecutively.
Early chipset,Pentium chispset & Core chipset
Intel licensed ZyMOS POACH chipset for Intel 80286 and Intel 80386 SX processors the 82230/82231 High Integration AT-Compatible Chip Set. This chipset can be used with an 82335 High-integration Interface Device to provide support for the Intel 386SX. While not an actual Intel chipset bug, the Mercury and Neptune chipsets could be found paired with RZ1000 and CMD640 IDE controllers with data corruption bugs. L2 caches are direct-mapped with SRAM tag RAM, write-back for 430FX, HX, VX, and TX. All Core 2 Duo chipsets support the Pentium Dual-Core and Celeron processors based on the Core architecture. Support for all NetBurst based processors was officially dropped starting with the P35 chipset family. However, some motherboards still support the older processors
