Equilibrium remained a great hit in the 2000 era; it was released in 2002 with the star cast Christian Bale, Emily Watson, Taye Diggs and others. Equilibrium belongs to dystopian science fiction films, trend of offshoot utopian is constantly increasing from 90’s the involvement of the high intellectual struggle of thoughts which shows a possible outcome of our present knowledge. Dystopian or offshoot utopian literature could be a significant hyperbolic view of any familiar society which one that exaggerates social ills in order to make point about society’s flaws. It’s also called inverse of utopian literature for creating and constructing a world in which the ideal supposition is actually the worst idea possible, ultimately leading humankind to ruin.
Plot and story:
Equilibrium film revolves around the main character John Preston who played by Christian Bale, one of the law enforcement officer from the army, who have no emotions and are unable feel. They are used special drugs unknowingly to suppressed emotions and feeling so that they could rule over the society. After accidentally missing a dose, john was began to feel and experience emotions, in results he was starting to think his own against his own morality of killing people and makes him question to moderate his actions while attempting to remain undetected by the suspicious society in which he lives. Ultimately, he aids a resistance movement using his martial arts, advanced fighting capabilities, for which he was taught and used for the very regime he is helping to overthrow.
